daily life, warsaw, restaurants, seasons, weather
When the heat is on (today?s temperature in the city is a sticky 35?C), it really is a shame to eat lunch indoors. The courtyard above is the outdoor alternative to the food court on the 3rd floor and provides such a place. Akashi Sushi, Hard Rock Cafe and the Rusticoni Italian provide a little variety and the atmosphere is relaxed with music eminating from HRC. Without the umbrellas, this would turn into a scorching pit of unpleasantness as very little breeze reaches here on days like today.
Beware the tourist trap. All these restaurants offer a lunch menu of between 15 -?30 zl for a starter, main course and cold drink. However, none of the restaurants place this ?detachable? menu on the table unless you ask for it. An?HRC meal can easily cost upwards of 50 z?oty, when a good 2-course?lunch at HRC can cost less than 30 z?oty. Fresh orange juice in the courtyard can be as much as 15 z?oty, whereas a coke or water are less than 8. Little differences, but when you eat out everyday, you soon find out where you?re being fiddled!
It?s surprising how different the weather can be across Europe. Here we are in Poland enjoying lovely warm sun and the UK is dealing with flooding and?frequent rainstorms. With the Olympics looming in London and Wimbledon well underway, you have to feel a little sorry for the meteorological mayhem that?is currently being?inflicted upon Blighty.
